Reaching the fifth title in The Adventures of Chomp the Chimp is a meaningful milestone for the series and Santos Press is thrilled to share an early peek behind the scenes at Chomp the Chimp and the Slow Day!
Building this series has been a rewarding journey rooted in bringing gentle, evidence-informed social-emotional learning (SEL) tools to families, classrooms, and counseling offices. Seeing educators, counselors, and librarians embrace Chomp’s world fuels our commitment to creating stories that help children navigate self-regulation, empathy, and personal growth.
In this upcoming installment, Chomp starts his morning at full speed, eager to leap and bound through the trees. But as his day unfolds, he meets several unique forest friends who move at a much quieter, more deliberate pace starting with a sleepy potto named Mr. Potto. Through these gentle encounters, Chomp discovers that slowing down allows him to observe, reflect, and appreciate the world from a completely new perspective. Guided by principles of developmental psychology, the story blends gentle rhyme with educational back matter on woodland wildlife to offer a comforting tool for home and school settings alike.
